Colorado Avalanche vs. Anaheim Ducks

Ah what a weekend! Me and my two best friends (DG and DI) headed to Denver for a guys trip that included a Nuggets game, Avs game, snowboarding, drinking and general debauchery. The Nuggets game was fun but hockey is the best. CO loves hockey and the fans came out in droves. I saw everyone in Avs jerseys and both men and women, young and old understand and respect the game. I have never been to a daytime game, so the 1pm puck drop was new to me and I have to say I liked it. The three of us manned up after a long, long night of drinking and freezing as we attempted in a drunken stupor to walk back to our hotel…which was 1.5 miles away in temps dipping into the teens. Normally this wouldn’t be a big deal, bundle up and hoof it but we had jeans and no jackets. Next thing I know we are trying to run down cabs and DG was screaming like a girl “Taxi, Taaaaaxi!!!”. Let’s just say sleeping in on game day was a great idea, allowed the hangover to dissipate and our bodies to recharge. The game was fun, plane and simple. Within a couple of minutes a good fight broke out, there was a high stick leading to bloody ice, and a couple of breakaways (the Ducks were stopped, the Avs got a goal). Even though the damn Ducks came away with the 2 points in a 4-3 win, we really enjoyed ourselves. Lowlight of the day…being diverted on the way back to San Diego because of fog and landing in Phoenix with no other flights going out until morning. The highlight…DG getting the itch (when he starts getting agitated he starts scratching his head) and convincing us to rent a car and drive home the 400 miles at 11pm. We made it home at 4:45am…
