Game #4-San Diego Chargers
San Diego Chargers vs Indianapolis Colts
Qualcomm Stadium
November 11, 2007
Don’t know what to expect from this game. The Chargers have looked pretty good this year, but it is a crappy day…rain in San Diego…what the hell! Oh well, we started the game off really well with Sproles taking a kickoff all the way back. The stadium erupted as the “mini me” came screaming down the field right toward us in the end zone. The dude is 5’6” but runs like the energizer bunny and you can barely see his legs as he chugs down the field. Come to think of it, Sproles and Cromartie were the only players the Chargers had going for them today. Sprol-sie ran back a punt as well and Cromartie had three Peyton Manning interceptions. We looked awesome heading into the 4th quarter with a 23-7 lead…but these are the Bolts so anything is possible. Sure enough Manning has a couple of perfect throws and next thing you know they are driving down the field with a possibility of winning the game with a field goal. Luckily the Colts only have the best damn kicker in the sport…great (with a big sigh). Anyway Manning got the Colts down to the 20ish yard line with just over a minute left in the game. No matter how much we yell it will never do anything, Adam Viniterri has won divisional and superbowl games with more difficult kicks. I guess I didn’t count on the weather and the rain though, even though AV should have put the Colts up 24-23 he shanked the ball to the right and all Philip Rivers had to do is hold onto the ball and kneel. The Bolts are now 5-4, wonder if they will be able to make it to the playoffs…
Notes on the stadium: I didn't get a picture of the Qualcomm Stadium the day of the game, but in the shot I took from a different game you can see the concrete monstrosity in the back. Nothing stands out about the stadium except for the spiral walkways and the team flags around the perimeter. Hard to put anything cool up when the team has not won a championship...ever...
