Game #8-Los Angeles Dodgers
LA Dodgers vs. Cleveland Indians
Dodger Stadium
June 20, 2008
It is a really warm night, daytime was well into the upper 90’s and it is still 85 degrees at game time. I am having a sports weekend for Dan Inouye since it is his birthday…31…yikes! Tonight is the Dodgers, tomorrow the Galaxy. Anyway we started the night off right. Myself, DG, DI, Amanda, Larry and Shannon are in the parking lot chowing down some food and beers. I mean how else are you supposed to enjoy a game at Chavez Ravine? Well after several “refreshments” we headed into the game during the 2nd inning. The Dodgers are not doing so well this year but the entire NL west sucks so we still have a chance. Quickly we were down 2 by the fifth inning, but the Blue Crew rallied back to tie the game in the 6th. The Indians took another lead into the 8th and were up 4-2 but the resilient Dodgers again tied the game at 4 and we were looking forward to the comeback win. By the 9th inning the game was getting extremely fuzzy, the $12 large beers were really hitting us and the nachos did nothing for me…but we are still having a blast. Being drunk at a Dodger game is great, we are screaming, laughing, making friends all around us. Unfortunately the game went into extra innings and in the 11th the Indians went up 6-4 and never looked back. Old guy Geoff Kent was the final out of the game and we came away with another L for the season. Oh well, like I said before it was good to get back to Dodger Stadium…it has been about 6 years and it was totally worth it. After the game it was madness trying to get out of the parking lot so the beers flowed again…Happy B-day DI!
Notes about the stadium: Dodger stadium is now one of the oldest in the country behind Wrigley and Fenway. This place is unique because it is partly built into the ground so even if you are in the nosebleeds you don't feel like you are sitting in space. Unique to this park are the views of downtown LA from the lot, the large murals of the HOF Dodgers, the palm trees in right and left field, and the huge Think Blue sign that lights up the night al la the Hollywood sign.
