Game #6-Los Angeles Lakers
Los Angeles Lakers vs. San Antonio Spurs
Staples Center
May 29, 2008
So Danny Givertz has had Laker season tickets for years now, and they are awesome. Imagine being a Laker fan and being able to sit 5 rows above the tunnel where the players come out. Now imagine attending the game when L.A. is up three games to one over the Spurs and if we win, we will be going to the NBA championship versus the Celtics. The game was back and forth all night…first the Spurs took a 10 point lead, then the Lakers came charging back to go ahead by 5. In the final quarter though, that is when the purple and gold took over. Crisp passing, accurate shots, powerful dunks, we slowly built a good lead. Kobe (even though I can’t stand him) had a great game, Lamar was slashing to the hole, Sasha the “Machine” was deadly accurate…Next thing I knew the game was over, the streamers were pouring down on us, and we were off to the finals! Final score 100 to 92, no free chalupas or tacos for us in the stands but I will take it. Great game, great company, I hope to see many more of these games in the years to come.
Notes on the arena: Staples is famous because of the banner wall. All the championship banners from past and present Laker teams and retired HOF players line the back wall. The other obvious "gotta see" are the celebrities. At this game were Matt Damon, Dustin Hoffman, Toby Mcguire, and of course Jack Nicholson.
