Game #24-Washington Redskins

Washington Redskins vs St. Louis Rams
Fedex Field
September 20, 2009

Skins vs the Rams, two of the worst teams in the league but the best part about this game is that a co-worker in MD (Michele Alderson) was able to get two free tickets for me and Deon Chen. A free flight out, a free hotel, and a free football game (tickets were $80 each). Both Deon and I wore jerseys of teams we actually like, he wore the Pittsburg Steelers and I chose my San Diego Chargers Antonio Gates powder blue. Man did we get shit for it, most people just said “why is that dude wearing a Chargers jersey?” but they were down right mean about the Steelers. About 5 drunk groups kept harassing Deon today, kind of funny, kind of annoying. As for the game…BORING!!! There were a ton of dropped balls, bad defense, missed interceptions, and a really low scoring game. Steven Jackson had a crappy game, Mark Bulger played horrible, James Campbell was completely off unless he was passing to his tight end Cooley, and the star of the game was the Skins kicker because they won 9-7 on three FG’s. Again, very unexciting but hey at least we didn’t drop any money (except for the $35 parking pass). I guess the funny/seriously annoying part of the game was the dude in front of us brought this damn whistle that was blaringly loud. He kept blowing the damn thing and it was ringing the ears of everyone around him. He thought it was the best thing in the world because every time he used it the kid in front of him had to cover his ears. If I was a couple rows back it would have been more entertaining but since I was in range it started to piss me off as well.

Notes on the stadium: Fedex Field is OK. I wish there was more to it but there isn't. This place is in the middle of no where so you would think it would be fan friendly but it took about an hour to park and when we finally got to the lot we found out it was $35! What the hell? Walking into the stadium you didn't get the feel of "Wow, I am going to see the Redskins!". There were a couple of team signs and team flags but nothing screamed out to the fans that this is Skins country. The most interesting parts of the place are the people. This is the only team with a marching band and they have the Pig Pen (10-15 men who come to the games in dresses, wierd hats, and wear pig noses).
