Game #17-Phoenix Suns

Phoenix Suns vs Philadelphia 76ers
US Airways Center
March 18, 2009

I was sent out to Chandler, Arizona for a targeted selection interview training and decided to go to a Suns game with a co-worker Deon Chen. Nothing like a free hotel, car and per diem while getting to enjoy another NBA game. Anyway the Suns played really well. Nash was moving and slashing, Grant Hill was hitting his shots and rebounding like the Piston days, and Shaq dominated under the net. Andre Iguadala who beat the Lakers the night before on a buzzer beater was ineffective tonight. It was an offensive minded persons wet dream, tons of shots, about 30 dunks, and great passing. Defense was non existent, and Shaq is old and slow so half the time he is not even on the side of the court as the rest of his teammates, hilarious. So here is my funny observation of the game. In general men like sports, women don’t. Kinda obvious, I know. But it was awesome watching three couples sitting right in front of me, all the dudes had Suns jerseys and were screaming and yelling the entire game…the girlfriends were either texting or playing games on their phones. I took a pic but it didn’t come out, it was damn funny though. Oh yeah, the half time show was the 4 Tops…you know, Sugar Pie Honey Bunch. They sounded like crap but anytime a group dresses in matching electric blue suits they get a bit of respect. As for the game, Suns over the 76ers 126-116.

Notes on the arena: The US Airways Center was really nice, great entrance hall and plenty of room to move around. Funny, even had a childrens playroom and arcade…I feel bad for the parents that spend all that money to go to a ball game to end up watching it on tv while the little ones play pinball at $2 a game. I also liked the full size pictures of the players you can take a picture next to, even jumping I couldn't get my head as high as Shaq.
