Game #3-San Diego Padres

San Diego Padres vs. Colorado Rockies
Petco Park
April 7, 2007

Ah, the Padres…the lowly, lowly Padres. The prior year we saw the Padres take the NL West (albeit with a crappy record). I was at the game when Trevor Hoffman broke the all time saves record, and things were looking good for the team in general. That is not the case this year. Keli got her box seats again from Pfizer, but I don’t think I saw more than a half an inning. I grubbed down on some food, had 2 free beers, and watched TV in the suite. Anyway, the game was boring but the Padres managed a win tonight…surprisingly 3-2. I wish something more exciting happened but what can you expect from these two teams.

Notes on the stadium: I love Petco Park and relish walking around to the outfield sandbox, the park in the park, the field level view from the Padre's store, looking at our buddies brick that states “In loving memory of Jerry Monzone, sports fan” even though he is still alive, and checking out where our brick is going to be under the Tony Gwynn statue which will say “Who said we couldn’t afford property in San Diego, Woot, Phoot, Coast and Hulk”. The view of center field with downtown buildings behind gives the fans a cool view and if you are high enough you can see the Coronado Bridge and San Diego Bay.
